The Acts of the Apostles are a follow-on from Luke's gospel. However the text is not as tightly constructed as
his gospel and some of the sentences are sketched out rather than fully
written. Also it appears there were plots and deceptions going on
in the background and considerable confusion as to which character(s) knew
what. In some senses the book is like a detective story. At
the same time Luke is developing the concepts of the "living
authority" and the "living word" which are an essential
background to the gospel of John The final statements of each section show steps
in the development of the new society |
