11:2.
But (when) John hearing in the prison the works of Christ, sending
through the disciples of him 3 said to him: Thou art the going one or another
may we expect? 4 And answering the Jesus said to them: Going report ye to
John the things which ye hear and see: 5 blind men see again and lame men
walk, lepers are cleansed and deaf men hear, and dead men are raised and
poor men are evangelised; 6 and blessed is whoever is not offended in me. 7
And these going began the Jesus to say to the crowds concerning John: What
went ye out into the wilderness to see? a reed by wind being shaken? 8 But
what went ye out to see a man in soft material having been clothed? Behold
the ones soft material wearing are in the houses of kings. 9 But why went
ye out? a prophet to see? Yes I tell you, and more than a prophet. 10 This
is he concerning whom it has been written: Behold I send forth the
messenger of me before the face of thee, who will prepare the way of thee
before thee. 11 Truly I tell you, there has

arisen among those born of women a greater than John the Baptist: but the
lesser in the kingdom of the heavens greater than he is. 12 And from the
days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of the heavens is forcibly
treated, and forceful men seize it. 13 For all the prophets and the law
until John prophesised: 14 and if ye are willing to receive it or him, he
is Elias the one about to come. 15 The one having ears let him hear. 16 But
to what shall I liken the generation this? Like it is to children sitting
in the marketplaces who calling the others 17 say: We piped to you and not
ye did dance; we lamented and ye did not mourn. 18 For came John neither eating
nor drinking, and they say: a demon he has. 19 Came the son of man eating
and drinking and they say: Behold a man gluttonous and a wine-drinker, of
tax-collectors a friend and of sinners. And was justified wisdom from by
the works of her. ( Note: Text
