22:23-33

Sadducees re-marriage after death

22:23 On that day approached to him Sadducees, saying not to be a resurrection and questioned him 24 saying: Teacher, Moses said if any man dies not having children shall take to wife after the brother of him the wife of him and shall raise up seed to the brother of him.  25 Now there were with us seven brothers; and the first having married died, and not having seed left the wife of him to the brother of him; 26 likewise also the second and the third, until the seven.  27 last And of all died the woman. 28 In the resurrection then of which of the seven will she be wife? For all had her.

29 answering And Jesus said to them.  Ye err not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God.  30 For in the resurrection neither they marry nor are given in marriage, but as angels in the heaven are.  31 But concerning the resurrection of the dead did ye not read the thing said to you by God saying: 32 I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob?  He is not the God of dead men but of living (ones).  33 And hearing the crowds were astounded over (at) the teaching of him.

Lawyer tempting

22:34 But the Pharisees hearing that he silenced the Sadducees, were assembled together, 35 and questioned one of them a lawyer tempting him: 36 Teacher, what commandment is great in the law? 37 And he said to him: Thou shalt love the Lord the God of thee with all the heart of thee and with

all the soul of thee and with all the understanding of thee. 38 This is the great and the first commandment. 39 The second is like to it; Thou shalt love the neighbour of thee as thyself. 40 In these two commandments all the law hangs and the prophets.

22:41-46

Christ the son of David?

41 And having assembled the Pharisees questioned them Jesus 42 saying: What to you seems it concerning the Christ? of whom son is he? They say to him: of David. 43 He says to them: How then David in spirit calls him Lord saying:

44 Said the Lord to the Lord of me Sit on (out of) the right of me until I put the enemies of thee underneath the feet of thee? 45 If then David calls him Lord, how son of him is he? 46 And no one was able to answer him a word nor dared anyone from that day to question him no more.
