20        Lack of Watchfulness. . . .

24:25-51

..Watch ye therefore

24:25 Behold I have before told you. 26 If therefore they say to you: Behold in the desert he is, go not ye forth: Behold in the private rooms, do not ye believe: 27 for as the lightning comes forth from the east and shines unto the west, so will be the presence of the Son of man: 28 wherever may be the carcase, there will be assembled the eagles. 29 And immediately after the affliction the days of those the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give the light of her, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 and then will appear the sign o the Son of man in heaven, and then will bewail all the tribes of the land and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and glory much; 31 and he will send the angels of him with trumpet a great, and they will assemble the chosen of him out of the four winds from the extremities of the heavens unto the extremities of them. 32 from now the fig-tree learn ye the parable: When now the branch of it becomes tender and the leaves it puts forth, ye know that near the summer; 33 so also ye when ye see all these things, know that near it is on the doors. 34 Truly I tell you that by no means passes away generation this until all these things happens. 35 The heaven and the earth will pass away, the but words of me by no means may pass away. 3 concerning But day that and hour no one knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son except the Father only. 37 For as the days of

Noah, so will be the presence of the Son of man. 38 For as they were in days those the ones before the flood eating and drinking marrying and being given in marriage, until which day entered Noah into the ark, 39 and knew not until came the flood and took all, so will be also the presence of the Son of man. 40 Then will be two men in the field, one is taken and one is left; 41 two women grinding in the mill, one is taken and one is left. 42 Watch ye therefore, because ye know not on what say the lord of you is coming. 43 And that know ye that if knew the housemaster in what watch the thief is coming, he would have watched an would not have allowed to be dug through the house of him. 44 therefore also ye be ready, because in which ye think not hour the son of man comes. 45 who then is the faithful slave and prudent whom appointed the lord over the household of him to give to them the food in season? 46 blessed is the slave that whom coming the lord of him will find so doing. 47 truly I tell you that over all the goods of him he will appoint him. 48 But if says wicked slave that in the heart of him: Delays of me the lord, 49 and begins to strike the fellow-slaves of him, and eats and drinks with the ones being drunk, 50 will come the lord slave of that on a day on which he does not expect and in an hour in which not he knows 51 and will cut asunder him, and the portion of him with the hypocrites will place; there will be the wailing and the gnashing of the teeth.

25:1-13

Ten virgins

Ch 25:1 Then shall be likened the kingdom of the heavens to ten virgins, who taking the lamps of them went forth to a meeting of the bridegroom. 2 Now five of them were foolish and five prodent. 3 For the foolish taking the lamps did not take with them oil. 4 But the prudent ones took oil in the vessels with the lamps of them. 5 But delaying the bridegroom slumbered all and slept. 6 And in the middle of the night a cry there has been: Behold the bridegroom, go ye forth to a meeting. 7 Then were raised all the virgins those and trimmed the lamps of them. 8 So the foolish ones to

the prudent said: Give us of the oil of you, because the lamps of us are being quenched. 9 But answered the prudent saying: Lest by no means it suffices to us and to you; Go ye rather to the ones selling and buy for yourselves. 10 And going away them to buy came the bridegroom and the ready ones went in with him to the wedding festivities, and was shut the door. 11 Then later come also the remaining virgins saying: Lord Lord, open to us. 12 But he answering said: (Note: Jesus as Bridegroom) Truly I say to you, I know not you. 13 Watch ye therefore, because ye know not the day nor the hour.
