12:41-53

Peter

"blessed slave . . faithful steward"

12:41 And said Peter Lord, to us parable this sayest thou or also to all? 42 And said the Lord: Who then is the faithful steward the prudent, whom will appoint the lord over the household attendants of him to give in season the portion of food? 43 Blessed slave that, whom coming the lord of him will find doing so. 44 Truly I tell you that over all the possessions of him he will appoint him. 45 If But says slave that in the heart of him: Delays the lord of me to come and begins to strike the menservants and the maidservants, to eat both and to drink and to become drunk, 46 will come the lord slave of that in a day in which he does not expect and in an hour in which he knows not, and will cut asunder him, and the portion of him with the unbelievers will place. 47 But that slave having known the will of the

lord of him and not having prepared or done according to the will of him will be beaten with many stripes. 48 But the one not having known but having done things worthy of stripes will be beaten with few stripes. But to everyone to whom was given much, much will be demanded from him, and with whom was deposited much, more exceedingly they will ask him. 49 Fire I came to cast on the earth and what will I if already it was kindled. 50 a baptism and I have to be baptised with and how am I pressed until it is accomplished. 51 think ye that peace I came to give in the earth? No I tell you but rather division. 52 For there will be from now five in one house having been divided, three against two and two against three. 53 will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against the mother, mother-in-law against the daughter-in-law of her and daughter-in-law against the mother-in-law.

18. . Discern

12:54-59

Crowds

"face of earth you discern, this no"

12:54 And he said also to the crowds: When ye see a cloud rising over the west, immediately ye say that a storm is coming, and it becomes so; 55 and when a south wind blowing ye say that heat there will be and it becomes. 56 Hypocrites the face of the earth and of the heaven ye know to discern time but this how do ye not discern?

57 And why even from yourselves do ye not judge the righteous thing? 58 For as thou goest with the adversary of thee to a ruler, in the way give the pains to be rid from him, lest he drag thee to the judge, and the judge thee ill deliver to the usher, and the usher thee will cast into prison. 59 I tell thee by no means mayest thou come out thence until even the last lepton thou payest.
